I usually know what I want before I walk in so I just go straight to it. They get glowing reviews online, but I haven't had a worse experience anywhere else. My local music store is the absolute worst. I won't reveal which music store it is since I don't want to be identified but I felt that it was best for reddit to keep an eye out.Д®dit: Not all music stores are as bad as this I'm sure there are worse ones out there too but its better to at least be knowledgeable. All these stories are from a music store that has awards for being excellent and all that. I'll try to think of more things to tell you guys but this is what I remember at the moment. Tip: If you are going to get lessons stay with the same teacher and make sure you are comfortable with him. There would be multiple times were a student would have a different teacher each week which I felt was not good for learning. Well I believe if they student wants to learn bass they'd give him a bass teacher but I guess this wasn't the case.

Occasionally there would be students who wanted to learn lets say bass and they'd give the student a guitar teacher who taught them that. Well we had multiple piano teachers a couple good ones and a bad one, If the good teachers felt that the student wasn't learning or didn't want to learn they would send them to the bad teacher so that they could still make money off the student and he won't progress. New students who were eager to learn would come and sign up for lessons and they weren't cheap. Now my 3rd thing I will warn about is lessons, we had very good teachers and some eh ones.

Tip: Make sure you go somewhere you can trust and if you can stay there while they repair it. So I was clueless, I felt bad for the customers that someone inexperienced would be handling there guitars or other instruments. But he would send me to do them, the most I do is change strings. My boss has been to luthier classes and he would tell people he would do the repairs.

Usually when you have someone fixing your guitar you expect from them that they have some certifications and that they are a professional and knew what they were doing. Now for repairs my shop did repairs, often it was just some restringing or something like that but occasionally we had some nut replacement. Tip: Always make sure the business is a licensed dealer for that guitar company before buying it or you could get screwed over.

Ex: We had a guitar that had a small crack in it and we tried to sell it as new. The shop I worked for then bought those guitars at a very discounted price and then sold them for retail value. Well how did we get these guitars? My boss had a way of getting blemished guitars or ones that didn't pass the quality test so they would sell them on this website or something. We offered guitar repairs, lessons, and instruments and for the most part it was good but there was some not so good stuff.ДЄ lot of the instruments we sold were new that's because we were dealers for the compannies but then we had some instruments that we were not licensed dealers for ex:Epiphone so we would have Epiphone guitars there even though we weren't licensed dealers. I started working there early this summer and saw some things that kinda ticked me off not because they affected me but because it affected the customer. Hey /r/Guitar!
